If you haven't tried sea moss gel, now's the time. I started using sea moss at the beginning of 2020, adding it to shakes and oatmeal — and these days I'm hooked on sea moss lemonade. Irish moss has long been harvested for its nutritive properties, and was popularized in the modern era by Dr. Sebi for its high vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant content that can help support the immune system.
Sea moss gel
- 1 cup dried sea moss
- 2 cups water (plus soaking water)
- A few lemon slices
How to make it
Rinse thoroughly
Rinse the dried sea moss well. Pulling it apart first helps water reach every piece.
Soak for 6+ hours
Soak in spring water for at least 6 hours. Save the soaking water — it holds plenty of the sea moss's nutrients.
Rinse & massage
After soaking, rinse again, place in a bowl, and massage the sea moss by hand.
Blend
Add the soaked sea moss to a blender at a 2:1 ratio (2 cups water to 1 cup soaked sea moss) and blend to a smooth paste, about 2–3 minutes.
Set & refrigerate
Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it turns into a gel, then refrigerate and enjoy.
